Suggestion: allow injuries to heal over time.

PostSat Feb 08, 2014 2:04 am

I'm not a big fan of the injury system, but if it's going to be something that is going to be kept, then it should be changed so that units can "rest" and heal injuries over some period of time instead of only being able to be healed with cards.

I really think options are key with this: Allow players to heal units instantly with ducats and healing, but also allow us to heal units with time instead. It could easily be made into a mission.

but with this option cost of healing units by cards should be icrease for the simple reason that this ducats cost its mayby 10-20% of all earned ducats, so for me this problem almost dont exist

I like the way you think; unfortunately the person posting above me likes the system and trolls posts concerning injuries. The developers are missing an opportunity for having good character development in the injury system.

current injury system penalize players who level up their mercenaries. on lvl 4 troops u need 8 cards to heal injury, and for winning game u earn 100-200 ducats. too harsh

ducats improve by increasing your renown and 800 ducats aren't a lot in my opinion (pre-open it was 1500 as standard price). Remember that conceding = no injuries on those units that didnt die.

I kind of like the heal over time thing as a fail safe for people who did not save enough Ducats or got a lot of injuries all at once. I am talking maybe 1 day per card required though.
If you take high level units you really need to decide if it is worth finishing the game or conceding when the safety of your valuable units is compromised. There are no harsh penalties for conceding and there can be for playing on.

I liked them at the beginning, but now, I don't feel injuries add anything to the game.

The "cosmetic" ones like War Scar are okay. But for the most part, it's adding injury (no pun intended) to the insult of losing.

All it does is set me back a few hundred ducats. Another few hours of grinding. Blech.

I don't have much time to play this game, probably less than 10 games per week (I managed to play like 3-5 games the last 2 weeks or so), and
a) I am still trying to grind up enough renown and ducats for better units
b) having an injury puts a relative great strain to my finances.

Usually, (depending on the unit) it is much cheaper to dismiss the injured unit and buy a new one instead. You might lose a few XP, but since I don't level my units except for specialists, having an injury is just an excuse to purchase a whole new unit instead.

This is a difficult one for me. As a Blood Bowl player I find the injuries to be very tame in this. In that I have had more than once a star player die because he tried to move a 1 extra square to score ( a 2+ roll on a d6). So I miss a Touch Down and lose a star player that takes a lot longer to level than a unit in this, and may in fact be 'unique' and extremely hard to replace. There are no healing cards, the player will be removed from your roster. As tragic as they can be in BB, I learnt to love injuries and I never fielded a team focussed on hurting players.
That said, I think it is a good point that if it does not add anything to the game then why is it there? Also these things being random mean the odd player will be effected more than the average. The injuries do little for the most part, but a bad run of them especially early in a companies career could be pretty game breaking for some.
I would really like an injury system but by most peoples responses it would appear to be more trouble than it is worth. Even for me they are not currently adding anything to the game.
Maybe injuries should only occur in ranked matches, and heal with games missed or real life time. Something like that could add deeper company management to the rankings. In real life sports codes a season for a team can often be decided by a bad run of injuries or the opposite: always having the best team able to take to the field. This type of thing would probably mean you needed to have a bigger list of units ie: more merc slots available. I think instead of merc slots you should be able to store 200AP worth of units + 50AP per guild level or something to that effect.
