Multiplayer turn limit

PostSun Jan 19, 2014 4:36 am

I think the turn limit for multiplayer matches shoudl be raised by a few turns... Perhaps 15 turns.
I fought the same player 3 times today in the 200 AP bracket and we both had Lion armies without ranged units for this bracket. My army was stronger than his, but the battle was going slowly (we both had Knights).
When we were fighting for the third time, he knew he had no chance of winning so he had the coward idea of running through the battlefield during the last turns of the fight looking for a draw...
Unfortunately for him, he still lost as I was able to catch him on the last turn before a draw because I had initiative and he was cornered.
The thing is... With a higher turn limit, things like that wouldn't happen... It feels ridiculous having to chase a coward throught the battlefield because he is trying to get a draw due to the short turn limit.

pre-patch there wasn't any turn limit and trust me it was even worse :-) i had more than once the situation of reaching 25+ turns with only 2 units chasing each other (add Benny Hill show music). I have to do more testing but in the few matches i played i didnt have this issue. I find it weird that an all melee band was not able to finish it before the 10 turn as usually this is more classical of bunker strategies.

a way to improve the system would be that at the end of the match you calculate the remaining AP vs enemy remaining AP and establish a winner.

hmmmm

if at the end of match, i have for example 6 unit's ( archer or infantry ) like 200 AP and my enemy 1 legendary unit's 250 AP ?....

Is not very balanced i think

if he didn't kill in 10 turns enough offor your units with his legendary than it is his fault ;) and beside it means you decimated the rest of his army

i think that 10 turn its ok

cause if y have archer ect. range unit u can put pressure on enemy so he cant bunker and wait, or u put insufficient dmg on his heroes to start fight and win.

only problem is when y and enemy dont have any range unit and no one want to start fight

and this 10 turn when y lost cause stupid mistake always give y opportuniti do make draw, if enemy lost before 7 turn take them its not a problem but when he lost after 8-9 turn he can save if we is wise

There should be at least 14-15 Turns imo...
now its so easy to abuse that - so even I made a half-lame draw today.
Maybe i didn't run but my knight was passive by the last 4 turns - not forcing counteratacks - while enemy Knight+bowman didn't manage to kill him in time

and in half games against wolfens i hope that enemy won't start running after loosing his first or secont unit. Mov 6 + big dodge makes forcing draws quite easy.

Well just started to play since OBT launch, and...oh well found this thread via search, but I'd call it (considering what I've seen) "Draw runners".
This is literally annoying (╮°-°)╮┳━━┳ (╯°□°)╯ ┻━━┻
Every third game I play with Draw runners, for some reason all of them play with Wolfs (mb they got longer running distance or whatsoever, haven't yet learned a lot so just a guess) and all of them use the same tactic - all units assassin/ranger to run a lot. Split them through the whole map, and it's just impossible to chase and hunt down each of them in 10 turns unless you use the same type of units, and still. The last Draw game a guy just stated from the very beginning "I'm going for draw, chase me", and he just tried to take a Win with annoy (run and wait until the timer runs out) only one unit left in the end on his side and none died on mine, so either remove/increase turns cap or calculate units loss/AP loss. And that was just and example, one started running after the first unit loss, the other one...

its truth that propably calculating ap lost - would solve draw abusing problems. This may not be perfect but propably best non complex option.
And after all it worked that way in tabletop Conf

yep and this is why turn limit is necessary...12 might be better and the AP calculation (like the one in conquest mode) can be really useful. i can already imagine people complaining that they lost because the other guy had +2 AP more than than them :D
