Disable Chat and/or ignore players

PostWed Mar 05, 2014 11:14 pm

This function is available in many games. I really wish there was a way to avoid having to see what other players type.

While I don't believe that there are many players who need the "ignore" treatment, I still think that it's a necessary thing in any online game. Some people just prefer to ignore some antagonist instead of creating a problem.

I completely agree. I've only run into a couple of people that I don't ever what to encounter again, but they are out there. I think we should be given the option to ignore some players that we find offensive or just no fun to play.

ignore chat is fine but if you start "blocking" the player (ie: you will never ever meet him in a game) it might be abused. For instance i could block all the players i think are better than me so that i've a higher percentage to fight "weak" ones.

I don't think you should be able to block from play for the reason Deep Blue stated. But ignore what they say would be fine, especially for the abusive people.

On a side note, I've gotten a little fresh in the chat box when a Wolfen player decides to play castle against my Ram team in a VIP match. I mean come on, you got units that can run half way across the map, but you're waiting for me to make a move and open up my avatar so in one turn you can swoop in and kill him.

Blocking player as a opponent would be insane ;D

To clarify I wasn't suggesting unlimited blocking of players. Maybe even something that just had them lower on your list as far as how often you could see them. Sometimes you run into an offensive player and that's the only player you seem to find games against. Right now when I run into that situation I just stop playing. Granted this is only for two individuals that I've run into.

i think the best way would simply be to put a report function (i think there is but is not implemented). What might be hard is defining what is a "lame" player that should be reported. For instance: is turtling and waiting a lame strategy worth reporting? i guess no. Is trying to run away from the enemy from turn 1 worth reporting? maybe but the other player could even say it is a tactic and was using the units as "bait". Probably the only 100% lame action is the player who simply goes afk (on purpose) when it has an army of units (hi morbid puppets) just to troll you.
