Hydra very tough but slow [...]
About the Hydra as I said they used to be a very underpowered army. They are actually not that tough compared to the Boar dwarves and in the tabletop Possessed was a very weak trait especially compared to Hard Boiled. As for their play style they are weirdos. They are the only darkness army to have orthodox priests and can field all sorts of other strange units.
The thing that worked best for them was to have a very strong priest character + a Chtonian larvae (the thing in my avatar) as the core of the army. The larvae is a monster that provide a regenreration aura, can use the heal skill and sometime gobble up a dead dwarf and spit him out alive !
They have also little flying imps called flayers, centaur like dwarves made with "spare parts", Incubus with the lower body of a caterpillar. Very few ranged unit but boy are they weird. The fire-spitter isn't really that strange, but the others are... Towers, towers that move and shoot at peoples. Don't ask. Probably the hardest ranged units to deal with in melee...
So yeah in the end they are a slow, not that tough army, but with a very annoying ability to heal back, even from death. They love long running fight where the Possessed trait and the ability to heal will give them the edge.
