i always start on the same side of the map why?

The maps are specular that's why.

Symmetry 
Look closer - its not the same side of map every time - once you have Tree on the right and other time its a stone

The terrain of the map is effectively mirrored, so neither side will posses an advantage due to starting position.
the camera also turns so that you always appear positioned at the bottom of the map.
