I know that two things can be used to counter the predator: Using a Guardian of Runes level 4 spell that makes invincible combined with an offensive stance (Can hurt a bit...), several stuns + whatever...

I can't seem to beat them with Wolves. With humans, I can but that's ebcause it gets swarmed. And still takes at least a full turn to render it less menacing due to wounds.

What I dont understand in all these responses around balancing is when someone says

JUST PICK XYZ and its EZ-mode!!!

How do i pick XYZ if i dont know what im facing? Its a blind pick, theres no way to JUST PICK XYZ as a counter because I have no idea what the opposing player will bring.
I cant possibly be ready for EVERY army composition out there with one universal composition.
Or are people only playing the same people with the same armies over and over?

Why isn't there a draft pick system like in LoL where i can see what the fuck the other player is picking so I can adjust my composition?

Well, I think you're supposed to see the faction the other guy uses, but it's bugged and you only see the card of the main faction.

Would be easier to prepare if it worked.

And they can't do as in LOL: You would see a constant change in composition during the "prepare team" thing.

You obviously never played LoL draft pick.

The team picks champions each alternating, i.e. Player 1 picks a unit, locks it in, player 2 picks a unit, locks it in, player 3 picks a unit...etc
There is a whole meta-game around drafting units in LoL. There are also banned units, both teams have 2 units they can ban each, this is done to prevent flavor of the month OP units to fuck up the game too much.

The same could be done here.

You dont like lion knight? Ban him. Dont like PoB? Ban him.
Think the valkrie would be too hardcore in his comp? Ban it. Then he bans your Worg, tough luck, at least you know what youre going up against now.

You see him pick PoB? You pick a wizard. He counter picks with lonewolf. You counter-pick with archers... etc.

I've played League of Legends enough, thank you.

The system is still at a huge disadvantage, especially since untis are so different.

Let's say your opponent takes a medium-high value unit (Elite) in a 200pts match. Your opponent knows he can now take a golem with ease.

ANd since teams can have uneven numbers, it would give advantage to factions that can take many small guys like sparks: You can buy 2 sparks without a major investment while the enemy has to reveal at least 1 good unit, hinting on the way the battle's going to go.

NO to draft pick.
Yes to knowing what faction the other guy has.

i dont think the game is so hard focused on having the right counter. Every company should be build in a way that it can handle elites and legendary units. If it is not build in such a way then you have a lower possibility to win vs certain units. There are currently many ways to stop PoB , one being swarming him, the second is kiting him (warrior-mages/harassment stance etc) , blocking him ( crippling shot/ fierce units etc...) or debuff him (taunt, bad omen, putrefaction, fear etc...) or outpower him (2 Pob, 1 legendary focus on him etc..).

i think any company that should have this B plan + having a good sinergy

Most of the things you list are on at least lvl 3 units. What before that, seal clubbed?

but game cant be balanced for two first units at lev 1...
Especialy when anyone can have all units and level them up.

So what about Alachan mage - he is weak at lev 1 - than any other unit must be nerfed to make him usefull from the begining ? :P
But mage example isn't perfect while lev 1 could be simply additional 10-15 points cheaper than lev 2 ;)

exactly what dragon warrior said. Some things are also achievable with level 1 units (swaming/bad omen/ylia's wrath/water elemental attack etc).

I play Ram:

At 200AP I had good results with the Skull Warrior start. Drop the archer and replace him with a second skeleton. I can't say much for the 3-dog starts but the ubiquitous pred/hunter start is cake. Play defensively, stack up mana on your necro. Don't get antsy, wait for him to lose his patience and engage. Two skull warrior swings will kill the hunter, don't be afraid to rush him with offensive stance if he gets too close. When the predator hits your line summon puppets to surround him and bring in the skull warrior to do the heavy lifting. Don't presummon skeletons because he'll one shot them and pursuit jump you.

At 300AP I grabbed a black paladin. Same tactics mostly, remember to use honor of the black paladins and you can offensive stance without any fear, don't be afraid to suicide him to put a pred in kill range. He'll still be around for encirclement penalties until the next turn.

400AP I'm planning to grab another Paladin and give them both loyal and occult erosion. Final build I'm looking at, mainly with pred-centered wolfen teams in mind:

Skull Warrior - 82
Hard Boiled - 14
Taunt - 4
Fierce - 3
Total - 103

Black Paladinx2 - 74 + 74
Occult Erosionx2 - 7 + 7
Loyalx2 - 4 + 4
Total - 85 + 85 = 170

Necromancer - 65
Morbid Explosion - 4
Total - 69

Skeleton Warriorx2 - 23 + 23
Ferociousx2 - 4 + 4
Total - 27 + 27 = 54

Grand total - 396

I think it should do pretty well, all the stages leading up to it have been a cakewalk when preds are around, save for one double-pred comp. Lots of skeletons to tack on those encirclement penalties and Skull Warrior + 2 fierce/possessed Black Paladins is gonna be hard to deal with I think.
