Did you already connect to the game ?
Do you post from your computer with the issue ? Have you tried to switch off your firewall ? Your antivirus ? (if you have any)
If so, please post here the results for the following commands, using the Windows command prompt (shortcut : windows+r then type cmd and press enter) :

I think everyone is already able to connect to the game again. Considering it only happened yesterday and it happened to many players, the problem is not our computer/firewall/antivurus. As Legulysse said: "the servers were overwhelmed". I just hope this doesn't become a regular problem.

My friend sitting next to me can play just fine, yet i cant even connect to the login screen.
Why?

According to steam there are now less players online than yesterday, i.e. about half the players.

Yea and if this keeps up there will be even half less of that tomorrow.
