Crashes when launching from steam

When I launch dogs of war from steam it shows the graphics settings auto detector and the splash screen for dogs of war. Then they go away. After that I can't launch steam.

If I launch Dogs of war directly form the exe in the steam folder, I see the same auto detector which actually shows colors on it, then it gets to a screen where I can type in an email and password, but then closes shortly after that.

I uninstalled and re-installed but that did not resolve the issue.

I am running windows 7 64 bit
Radeon 5970 HD graphics card

what windows resolution you got? i may try to set your desktop resolution to 1024x768 and try it again.
Maybe the default settings for the game or your resolution are not supported yet.
Do you have an antivirus software?
You could also try to turn off antivir during your launch tests and also start as admin.

My System:
win7 64bit
2,7ghz amd athlon x2
nvidia gt520 or something like that (like a bad old onboard card)
4gb ram

i had no problems with the game. Atleast with such games that allow lowend graphics >_>

that's very weird and you're the first one reporting this kind of issue.
Do you have similar trouble with another Steam game ? Is steam launched nicely ?

Did you get the "crash report" window displayed when game crashes ? If so, please send it (by clicking the button in bottom right), and send me (through pm) your computer name or window account name, so I can get your report and see what's happening. If you have Lua.log created, send it also.

1. I am running at 1920 x 1080 resolution.
2. I don't have any problems with other steam games.
3. Steam launches like normal. I can interact with steam in the normal manor.
4. I don't get a crash report window when it crashes.
5. No lua.log is created.
6. When it crashes both steam and the dogsofwar exe show up in my processes under the task manager. However I cannot end those processes through the task manager.

I can manually run the crash report exe. That would at least give you some more info about my PC and account.

do you have 1 or 2 displays? If you have 2 then disable and try to launch.

I found your report, unfortunately, due to the manual launch of it, it is unusable on our side. Actually, it's totally empty.
Are DogsOfWar.log or LobbyManager.log created ? (under My Documents/DogsOfWar folder)
What is your actual content in My Documents/DogsOfWar ? Any .dmp files ? CrashReport folder ?

I don't see any error on our server from your connection attempts. Looks like a classical disconnection on our side.
CrashReport window should be displayed if the game crashes, we would need that for further investigation.

I am now able to play.

The issue was my avast antivirus. I noticed it was doing a deep scan on the graphics settings auto detector. Once I added an exclusion for the dogs of war folder it worked. I also had the same issue with Planetside 2.

i dont use an antivir software maybe that why i almost never got problems with games. yey once i collected somehow enough ducats to revive my soldiers we could do some games ;D
