let me guess though... is it nothing but necromancers and archers? because that's the only valid setup that works and quite frankly, its boring :p

My suggestion is to play a little more and then come back for feedback. ;)

Balance of army list is a matter of how many AP you're playng. If you play at 400 AP there's a better list, if you play at 600 there's another and so on until you reach 1000 AP.

Imo there's at least a very strong army list for every faction at least, and probably just 1 really too strong over the other (a lion list)

What i really would like is a more schematic matchmaking system allowing player to choose how many point play, a training league from 250-500 a normal league with 500-800 and a league of 1000 max point.

Also more, different and better map and mission would be a nice and mandatory addiction especially with multiple object. Something like a king of the hill with 3 key area where you had to split army or something like that.

it works well at low levels AP...probably with higher AP, let's say 800 you will see more build diversity. This is just an intuition because nobody plays such a "big" army right now (btw the maximum is 1000 AP) . Also, ranged should be in every composition as currently they are super good so i dont expect anything without 3-2 archers at the very least. Necros are the pillar of the army and should also be present. Back in time when i started i was piloting an interesting build with 2 pala 1 priest and 1 necro (about 340 AP + some archers if you want to increase the AP) It was very fun but it needed always the core to be present and with the current low AP armies i would have always to leave part of the army at home and therefore i switched to the zerg that no matter what AP you face is effective.

EDIT: skydancer we wrote the same thing :D anyway i agree a king of the hill map with multiple objectives would be super nice.
