How about a Barracks?

PostThu Feb 13, 2014 11:13 pm

It would really be nice if there was a barracks to hold all your troops not assigned to an army. This would allow you to buy units and store them in place to use at will…

Also if you destroy an army all the units you already purchased would just go to the barracks instead of being completely wiped out…

Then you could form a new Army from the Barracks.

Just a thought, because my initial Army was more of an experiment and now my only option to restart this army is to lose all the troops I have in it…

Thoughts?

I agree it could be interesting, but it should probably be limited to "experienced" units, with a transfer from "Barracks/tavern" for a cost in Ducas or Cyans.

And with a fairly limited number of slots, like 5 at most, 10 with cyans, so you only get to pick your favourites, not whole companies.

I like the name tavern more: Suits the mercenary theme better.

Since this game is more or less about collecting miniatures/units, it should be possible for each player to acquire any amount of units he wishes to. If he wants to purchase 20 skeletons, then he should be free to do so. If he wants to field them, the usual limit (5 per company as of now) should be in place.

Because, in the old tabletop nobody prevented you from buying any mini you wanted, but there where rules of deployment/engagement, so you couldn't field (large) armies with just one or two unit types.

I think that having a barracks/camp/tavern would improve the comfort of managing your armies, since you can always have a backup in case a few of your units die and are never ever available anymore (which also didn't happen in the tabletop, since nobody outright destroyed his units if the injury roll resulted in death for a specific warband member).

I like the idea of a Barracks / Tavern and agree with Spawnferkel. If you buy them, you shouldn't have to pay more to have them. Let us buy as much as we want. I don't see a benefit in limiting that. Just limit what we can field.

I agree...I want the flexibility to experiment with several different types of armies and don't want to have to rebuy the troops each time just because I disband my current army/setup.

I was simply saying you should pay Ducats to have them get in the tavern and stay. This would limit exploits, like "save guys in the Tavern, destroy company, start company, save the guys in it, repeat".

Or you could just mark those units that come with a new company and delete only them when disbanding said company, but leave the remains unharmed

There's also an other point to "Paying" to transfer: What would be the point of unlocking company slots if all you need to to move stuff in and out of the tavern.

I'm thinking game economy too.

Well, i currently play as Acheron and I would like to field EVEN MOAR skeletons - but I can't due to company-slots. So my maximum on fighters for any mission is limited and I have to field more expensive units that I dont like right now (or can't afford)

The problem here would be the starting packs: I create a new company, I move the best units in the tavern (e.g. PoB, GoR, etc.), I delete the company, I create another company and so on. Continuing in this way I will obtain all the units I want (not considering the legendary ones) completely for free and without any Fame limitation (if a fee for using the tavern would be present, it would have also to be higher than the starting price for a unit and it would be impossible to use the tavern before getting the necessary fame lvl)!

If you want more unit's slots you can unblock them lvling up or with Cyans.
