I've tested this several times and I am also quite sure that this is unintended.
A Knight of the lion can enter defensive stance but still activate his "Knockout Strike" ability. The targeted enemy unit will not be attacked by knight of the lion, since knight of the lion has 0 attacks, but Knockout Strike will still give the enemy the "knocked out" status, preventing their movement this turn. This is significant because, unlike a regular knockout strike, the knocked out status effect in this situation has a 100% chance at being applied.
