Verification and confirmation process is failing.

PostFri Jan 31, 2014 4:25 pm

I registered myself and imput the proper key. Then steam downloaded it for me. When I tried to log in it asked me to email verify. When I went to check the confirmation email there was nothing but lines of code. No link, just darkened lines of code. I don't know where to go with that.

Hi,

please show me the content of email you received. We have new users every day and nobody never reported such a problem.
With which software (outlook, thunderbird, ..) or webmail (gmail, ..) do you read it ?

Looks like you connected to the game.
Any information about what you experienced are welcome. :geek:

Hi,

I experienced the same problem.
However I manage to solve it quite easily :
What Cesso and I received seems to be the source code of the email verification/confirmation.
Thus I believe that for most messassing services we can only see a cut version of it.
Then the solution is to find the option "display the full version".
But there is another small problem and again the solution is quite simple. You just have to select everything to make
it visible as shown on the screenshot.

Note: by taking a look at the code we can imagine that the problem comes from a missing image or link or dead link ?

First problem : cut version of the source code, the browser can read it as the end ">" is missing thus displaying the code (this is not the full view of the email received, but it goes the same way till the end)

Thx for the information.

What is the software / webmail you read the email with ?
I don't have any trouble with thunderbird and hotmail. :(

Your analysis seems right to me. What you see is the image encoded to be displayed (because it's a HTML mail), in case the mail is cut / previewed and the amount of characters cut are in middle of the image datas. You can also switch to full text, to get an simple message that may be better readable.
I suppose the email is nicely displayed in "full window" mode ?

I just checked and there seems to be an issue with Microsoft Outlook (heavy client - web client is ok), images are not displayed, even after you clicked "download images" in top of message. :(
The "open in browser" option (shown after you chose to download images) is fine.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi back,

automatic word wrapping is the source of the issue. The image datas are word-wrapped and not considered as image datas. :(
At bottom of message, you should see that

By clicking this link, gmail should display the email without any images. (At least, this is what I get)

On top of the message, you have that
top.png
top.png (10.81 KiB) Viewed 6927 times

The red link should also display the email without any images.

We're looking for improving our emails, thanks for the report and sorry for the inconvenience.
