I wanted to give my opinion about the Barracks feature and see what other people think as well...

I like the general idea of Barracks in the shop, but I don't like the way it works now. I don't see the point of buyng a Barrack to recruit a unit every 24h for free.
When you have a high level unit (even more so if it is an elite or legendary), you don't want to lose it just because you can have a free level 1 copy. You will use a fate card and save your high level one and won't have room in the company to keep adding new units every 24h anyway... I really don't think people will be spending their Cyan/Ducats with Barracks.

My idea would be to make Barracks able to heal a unit of that type from any injury every 24h (you would still need fate cards to save them from death or to heal more than 1 injury in less than 24h) and give you a discount when purchasing units of that type with Ducats in the shop... What do you think?

Anyway, I do think it would be better for the game to change how the Barracks work.

I see no point in them right now. i admit i did not try them but as they are they are just a mysterious object. Would be nice to have something that heals a specific unit every 24h but the cost should be realistically low...like 15*fate card price for every unit.

ps: i just hope you are not going to remove fate cards in favor of barracks :P

This sounds nice.
As for current Baracks i see them usefull only for replacing wounded Sarklings (as fighter not support they are best at lev 1-2) and maybe skeleton Warriors/War Lions/Swordsman/skeleton archer (optimum lev 1-2)
But if anyone will rename/paint his unit - then replacing it is not an option.

I play since Friday so I`am not very experienced but the barracks seemed to be unnecessary directly at the moment i saw them, I`am glad that I found this threat because I`am thinking about their benefit in the game :lol:
So I even think, that the Barracks are not necessary or even helpfully. If "housing" is wished perhaps something like a "training ground" (first missed attack or parade of the trained unit hits instead of missing in the next game).Or an Blacksmith (first hit with a units weapon who where at the blacksmith caused additional damage for the first hit). Later we can perhaps dream of an "siege missions" where the own warband is attacked and has to defend their camp and you can buy some upgrades for the camp like spike-traps, barricades... this could be some kind of "endgame mission" when your warband is still optimized and you don`t know where to put your money or something like this.

i read somewhere they will remove them in the open beta...probably in the future they will reappear ;)
