I would like to add my personal opinion on the matter, as a 120% "newbie" player but with eagerness to spend some time here.
The whole idea of the game is truly INNOVATIVE ."Tabletop wargame sims" are much in demand out there and at the same time scarce. The only titles I know are the -still on development- Warmachine Tactics and Mordheim, and this one, so the hype when I "discovered" Dogs of war was ...HUGE.
Although, some things looked to me unappealing when logged and played those few days
1) I understand that for the advanced player, much more the one came here straight from years spent on Confrontation, Wolfens Difficulty or whatever is nothing. He has the experience, seen the combo of units etc to deal with them effectively.
But for the completely new to novice player, the sight of casters being tougher than his melees and a single mob steamrolling 4-5 of his troops is...terrible?
On every encounter with lions all my losses were close calls, haven t met Undeads yet but with wolfens...you know.
That "faction for starters" tag isn't an excuse, with that logic we "should" all play wolfens etc etc
2) The lack of content, the game is beta but some things could be done like some more maps or solo content and scenarios
Anyway, hopefully you will find my humble and truly noobish opinion accepted
The game has the potentials to become great, I truly believe so
