Someone with the same player name is impersonating me. Naturally the person who did this does not like me and I'm reasonably active in chat and this person is putting me in a bad light.

Please fix this, it is basic, make player ID's unique.

I don't know about cynade programming style but I very much doubt they use names as ID.
So you mean to make player's name unique.
Are you sure you do not have any double personality issue? (kidding)
Anyways yes if right now is possible to take some1 else name without restriction must be changed.

This could be a hard issue, since we're using Steam nicknames for ingame and lobby display at the moment.

I can't comment much more because it is a technical issue. We will look into it and see what can be done.

there's no "unique nickname" possibility as it is synchronized with your Steam nickname at login.
Steam allows users to have the same nickname, and change it as many times you wish, and so do we, right now.

I think you should contact our support to report this trouble. Don't forget to give some information (like nickname involved, datetime when this happened, what the other player said in chat and your email), so we'll be able to find him.

I wonder what happens if you create a commany name and change your profile name to match that of another players. Say if you win/lose a game will that affect the ranking score of the player being copied
