I saw many times this message in the pre-game compensation window, but how do you do it?

I don't think that is how he did it. I met another player once, I won and then I always got "Your opponent has left" when facing him (I can see the name of his company and then after few seconds the pre-match ends with "Your opponent has left").

Maybe you have to disconnect from internet to do it?

Hi,

That's the message displayed when... Well.. Your opponent left the launching game. :)
So that you can find another game.

If he leaves during the first popup to accept game, or the next synchronization step, you're put back to the matchmaking queue (which is not reset btw, it continues with your actual parameters, eventually extended due to the search time); if it occurs during the adjustment step, this leads to a fiability lost on his side. And you can search for another game.

What is not clear about that ?

Ok the procedure is clear, however my problem was: how do you exit a game in the synchronization step (after accepting the game with the countdown of 10 seconds and before the starting stage in the map but after seeing your enemy army name, the window where you can select new units for your army in 60 seconds)? it just seemed to me that he left thrice consecutively as soon as he saw my company name in the AP synchronization step, but I didn't find a button to refuse there. Anyway, probably he just disconnected/reconnected its internet connection and searched again... you should either add another button there to refuse the game or assign a "lost result" if someone disconnect/reconnect in that way.

There can be several reasons to fail this step, mainly connection issue (or quick alt-F4). Or computer issue, as this step lasts 10s for now. If the user was playing in solo game and has a slow computer, it could take more than 10s to unload this game and authorizes the synchronization, which means "ok now, let's start the game, send me game data like my opponent, the chosen map and my units to start the adjustment step as I'm ready and able to display that screen".

Aren't you confusing synchronization and adjustment ?
The window to select your army within 60s is the adjustment. The synchronization is another popup displayed before that (which generally is almost not visible as it lasts a very few frames). During the synchronization, you have no idea yet of your opponent.

People are not really supposed to refuse during the synchronization step :). The first popup to accept/refuse the game has the yes/no choice. After that, you just play : adjustment, deployment, etc..

Oh, then probably, since I didn't get an automatic victory, the other player didn't press the YES button in the synchronization window so it happened thrice consecutively in less than a minute with the same player that I got to the adjustment window and then I was kicked out because the other player didn't press the YES button at his previous synchronization step (so I could see his name/army but he couldn't still see mine), probably for low band connection problems.

Thanks for the answers.
