How works the matchmaking ?

How works the matchmaking please?
I feel it is more based on the statistics of the account and not the statistics of team.
Would you have additional information please?
PS: I say that cauz. for example : I have won 50 of 65 games on my account, and with my new team, I have faces in my first 2 games, 2 guys of the top 100, is it normal, any idea subject to matchmaking ?
