Wolf Archer insane movement/Harassment

PostWed Feb 12, 2014 1:39 pm

Ok, is it me or is the Wolf Archer out of control? The movement of 6 and still able to fire, plus the insane movement on the harassment shot, and still able to move 6 hexes after the shot.

I hear a lot of POB nerf calls, but I think this is where the focus needs if anything is nerfed.

Just my humble opinion.

IMO, it's more of a bug, like the caster-warriors: They can move within their regular movement range then use a spell/shoot, then finish their move + run.

They shouldn't, IMO. AT most, they should have their run movement after shooting/casting, or to nerf heavily they should only be allowed to finish their regular move distance.

Agree, Crossbowmen are more OP than PoB.

I already say what i think about them but i'll write also here.

Mov 6 --> 5
Str 10 --> 12
Harrassment : after shot you can move your resitual run rate --> after shot you can just mov your mov rate (5)

as i always said, i agree to the change im just thinking it won't be a quick change from the programming point of view as there is not such mechanic yet in the game (i guess?). I'm no programmer but i could imagine it being more tedious than changing some stats. I would support a quick change about its Mov and DAM even without the harassement change (which could be done in the future)

My guess is the Instinctive Firing at lvl 2 cancels the penalty for Harassment at lvl 3. Even if it doesn't, the fact you can basically move insane amounts while still doing max damage makes it by far the most elite unit, not to mention they just run away even after firing. You can't catch them due to high movement and they have the luxury of firing/running while still doing full damage.

My opinion, is it needs to be addressed...A good wolf player might be able to counter it, but I'd love to see the other 2 army's find a way. This is just going force everyone to play Wolf at this point...

Maybe I'm wrong. *shrugs*

I'm using 2 crossbow wolfmen with harassing and Instinctive fire... they work nice, but they are not so powerfull. They do low damage and they are vulnerable to every unit who move near to them... the guy wo went mad at me made just the mistake to stand still for 7 rounds.

I'm not a dev but i think that's pretty easy change harrassment mechanics... i think they just wait and collect more data about the game to made a good patch.
Remember that's a beta so it's pretty normal that there's something to fix and balance.

i agree - crossbowmen with harassment is pretty difficult to deal with. I run this myself, and its not always 100% win. most players who successfully defeat me always keep my archers occupied early in the game. As mentioned above, using flyers to sprint and engage them works really well. Ive never encountered any skeleton archers using the movement shot, but that would definetely help bring them down. In my opinion, the key to defeating this strategy is to engage them early on - their damage racks up pretty quick, so if you can take them down early, youre pretty much set
