Fear

I know pretty well the fear mechanics in the miniature game and initially seem that's the same in dow, but now i've some doubt that i think would be better to clarify.

1) The tooltip sentence seem to allow a fear test every time a creature enter into contact of a unit that have fear attribute, that's true in both ways? Fear unit enter contact of a normal unit, a normal unit that enter contact a fear unit?

2) When exactly the fear test is done? In the moment a fear unit enter into contact, before he made an attack, or just at the end of his activation|actiovation of the normal unit that enter into contact of the fear one? That's an important point because in the miniature game the test is done at the moment the unit enter into contact so the eventually subsequent attack is affected by the malus of the fear effect.

3) What's kind of roll is made? Why is not showed in the chat? It's a standard 80% of success -fear*5 + will*5 +- bonus|manus of skill?

4) How long it last? Seem that a fear test is done for every unit in contact of a fear unit at the beginning of the turn, that's right? Maybe every unit recover from fear at the end of the turn automatically and test again at the beginning?

5) What happen when two fear unit enter into contact if :
a) they have same fear
b) they have different fear value
c) an undead and a fear unit have a or b above?

6) How it work if a unit enter into contact of multiple fear unit.

The fear mechanics was a very key point in the game, know more about it would be very nice for playtester and eventually made some suggestion about.

Thanks

Hi,
I can confirm most of your points.
We have a huge part of the Client feedbacks still missing, and we will not have the opportunity to address it before some time, meaning that most of the passive traits and effects are unclear (either in the log or in the 3D).

- Fear is applied immediately and in both ways when 2 units come close to each other, before any attack is computed (the feedback is delayed on the Client). A huge melee will resolve every couple of adjacent units.
- A unit will be affected by a Fear effect until the end of the turn.
- A unit obtaining a successful roll against a Fear of X will be immune to this level of fear for the turn.
- A Fear roll is triggered only if a unit has a level of Fear strictly superior to the other unit, and if the unit is not immune to Fear (either from Traits like Undead or beacause it already resisted a roll of at least the same strength during the turn).
- The formula is the same as the Hit formula.

Those rules should cover all your questions ;)

Just one more question.
You say that fear affect a unit till the end of the turn.
What happen at the beginning of a new turn if a fear unit and a normal unit are already adjacent? Happen sometimes that the fear effect is still present on a unit, that's why at the beginning of the turn alla unit adjacent to a fear unit made another roll?

Yes, a new turn will automatically trigger all necessary rolls.
This is also true when a unit teleports.

I may say Fear effect is too low in current mechanics.

Both level and effect are good.

Or maybe even too strong - considering the fact that all other races will (should) have lower Will than the Lions.

so far i also think fear value and level is ok. Wolven only have the PoB and worg with decent fear values but they can get the +2 fear boost from the guardian.

I'm pretty sure Griffins will have fanaticism :D
