Quit game bug.

PostWed Oct 30, 2013 7:20 am

When using "crosshair" button in upper-right corner and then "Quit", the game doesn't close properly! So when you try to re-run the game after quitting steam says "the app is already running", and yes there is a process "DogsOfWar.exe" still working after quitting the game. So only manually killing this process in task manager actually close the game properly and it can be rerun.

I'm using Win7.

And in addition, I bet you know, but I'll say anyway, the code seems to be really unoptimized and the game eats a whole bunch of resources.

Hi,

do you always get this behavior ?
Because I've just tried it and it seems to work. But I know that sometimes Steam takes longer to effectively close the application.

[UPD 1] Oh, right!

I checked it several times and found the source of error. It was all because of "Xsplit broadcaster", that is a software to catch video (for stream, for example). I choose the source to catch video from processes list (DogsOfWar.exe in our case). And when I catch video from process, it somehow prevents the game to close properly.

I'm going to check other steamgames now!

[UPD 2] The point is, that other steam games are not affected that way. I stream them (choosing the source to catch video from processes list) and close, while streaming, and they do close properly. And Dogs of War does not =(

And yes, I waited 15 minutes for it to close. No signs of life.

One more addition to clarify:

DoW.exe does end up with closing properly after I close Xsplit broadcaster. So, for example, I have DoW and Xsplit running, then I close DoW and still have DoW.exe process running with no signs of life, wait some time (5 mins), close Xsplit broadcaster, and several seconds after DoW.exe finally killing himself.

Checked few more times. Actually DoW.exe does not kill itself even after closing XSplit.
That is what i saw after 4 hours of idle (after closing both DoW and Xsplit):

That becomes stranger each hour :/
How do you launch the game ? Through Steam or directly from .exe in your computer folder ?

I run it through steam (icon path steam://rungameid/219700)

I closed the game by "Quit" and then closed XSplit, and after my PC was idle for about 4hrs.
