Which troops truly represent?

PostWed Feb 26, 2014 1:27 pm

Seeing that the models per army are rather limited, understandable, being a new game. I am wondering which models will they choose for the upcoming armies.

Which models you think 'define' each of the armies (present, or upcoming)

Acheron: they did pretty good, however, Acheron was not known for its ranged fighters (archers were super rare, even hard to find as miniatures). They relied on waves of cheap enemies many times. I would expect to see the Ghouls, the zombies (resilient, slow but regenerating versions of the skeletons) and maybe the Cerberus of Acheron.

Alahan: again, they were pretty solid here, not much comes to mind as being missed, but the Bards and the Knights on horseback.

Wolfen: not too well versed in wolfen to know

Upcoming

Tir Na Bor: Dwarf Bombardier, Mountain Giant, thermo warriors, Sons of Uren.

Mid Nor: chtotian larvae? Cyclops, fire spitters, incubuses, Puppet Masters of course, Prowlers, and Reapers.

No Dan Kar Goblins: (this is a hard one, because they had so many subfactions)
Trolls for sure, Goblin mutants? Gas Blowers? Goblin wizards with their rats.

Dirz: tigers, dasyatis clones, centurus clones, crossbowmen, biopsists, neuromancer, Keratis warriors, Aberration, dawn warriors.

Cynwall: monks, varsyms, akhamials, Nova, echahims (on stilts), Asadars, Khidaryms.

Orcs: jackals, trackers, son of thunder, shaman, bruisers, brontops warriors.

Griffin: fusiliers, executioners, inquisitors, exorcist, spearmen, praetorian guards, priestess of steel?

Sessairs: Minotaur, centaur, shaman, elementalist, giant barbarians, fiannas, kelt warriors

Drune: archers, formors, soul snatchers, persecutors, lanyfhs, hound of scathach.

Any other ideas?

I would prefere clasics like Klune + Strohm Knights/Warriors + Troll

Mad Wheels you say ? would be interesting :D
Mov 8 Str 8+2 for each hex moved in stright line (or at least not moved back and forward) before charge ;)

Obviously it's all preference, but the Uraken minis were my favorite of the whole Confrontation line. Japanese goblins are just so cool, imo.

They were nice - i currently paint Samurat #2 blister ;)

but Strohm Knights/Warriors was my favourite goblin models - stuffed animals were both great looking and fun ;)

but^2 - from the whole line Lion Mounted Standard, Maelyn, Nelphaell, Syd the Kaiber, Falconers, ... so about 30-40% of Lions and 60-70% of Cynwalls ;)

That hound of scathach can stay in his den of uselessness, for whatever it concerns me. It was one of the ugliest models of the Drune, it was useless, it was heavy, and it didn't stand out.

If they want to have a big unit, formors or the drune minotaur would be a much better choice.

I imagine any possible drune setup as such:
Mercenaries or drune regulars, archers ofc, shamans, karnaghs, soul snatchers, formors, mane riders/horned raiders, minotaur

Drunes will most likely lack any faithful, since they are prone to eat anything which is even remotely connected to religion :D
If they have faithfuls nevertheless, then it should be either a living-dead (like Ardokath) or someone from the formor tribe.

* Dirzs:

- Dawn Warriors / Hybrids:

Dawn Warriors look cool, but I think they are also too similar to other mediaval warriors froma design point of view.
The Dirzs really need a different look that emphazises their modified genetial nature.
Therefore Hybrids with axeblades could replace the Dawn Warriors as regulars (but with the Dawn Warriors stats and special weapons).

- Crossbowmen / Hybrids

They could gibe us Dawn Warriors as regular fighters, and Hybrids instead of crossbowmen.

- Biopsist

- Neuromancer

- Tiger

- Kheratis warrior or Skorize warrior

- Dasyatis or Centurus

- Dasyatis or Aberration

* Ophidians:

- Slaves or Syhes

- Snake archer

- Snake wizard

- Vortiris snake Priest

- Aspic

- Snake Warrior

- Apostates of Darkness

- Vortiran

I still think that Dirz should have an army more focussed on faith, since they were strongly religious both in the TT and in their background story. The only faction who had a similar fanaticism was the Griffon, and thats because the Scorpion emerged from the Griffon.

And though it pains me to say, I think that a vikhar is a better altenative to a neuromancer.

As I mentioned before in another thread, I think that (iconic wise) those troops could resemble the Dirz faction best:

Regular: Dawn Warrior, because they were cheap, but solid units in the TT and none of the other factions shared any of their visual features except for the cape. Their distinctive swordaxe was only common throughout the Dirz army, and there was only one artifact on the Devourer/Hyena faction that earned you a similar effect.

Ranged Combat: Hybrid, because the resemble the cloning aspect combined with mutagen and too, they were used in a lot of promotional pictures for Confrontation. Their masks are shared with a lot of cloned troops, and the whole Hybrid project with all of it's laboratories and dangers are not only part of a separate board game, but also featured in the Confrontation PC game as part of the campaign (and Cyanid did an overwhelming good job portraying those laboratories).

Warrior-Mage: Biopsist. This is almost self-explanatory for anyone who played the TT, and both the look as the capabilities of this unit make it the best solution for this role.

Mobile troop: Tiger of Dirz - again a very iconic unit, often portrayed as a beast of massive strength and vicious cunning.

Priest (or warrior priest): Vikhar. He has his own cool look and is an actual priest compared to the neuromancer, who had a mechanic specifically designed for him.

Support unit (possibly faithful): crimson fury or crimson servant - because they complemented the religious aspect of the Dirz army, and because they are also valid concepts for their intended role.

Elite Unit: Dasyatis-, Centurus-, Nemesis- or Nefariousclone. My personal preference is the Dasyatisclone, since it was not only featured in the Confrontation PC game, but also because it look badass and often struck fear into the hearts of my opponents at the TT :D

Legendary: Abberation Prime. 'nough said (no really, this unit is fitted perfectly for the role as legendary) - the only other unit that I personally could live with would be the Pest of Flesh (as seen in my avatar) - a cheap, useless self-sacrificing unit with no real purpose :D /jk

I never understood why the Dirzs denied their god (Merin) to find a new one Arh-Tolth while their whole society relies on science, and a litle bit on magic.
It does not make sense to me, and was made this way only for gameplay purpose, to give the scorpions priests to play.

They could do the same in Dogs of War, but Neuromancer or crimson fury or crimson servant whould fit that role better from a visual point of view imo.
As I alwready said, they should emphazise the "scientist" look of the army, and even if Vikhars do not really look like the common priests, Neuromancer or crimson fury or crimson servant would be mroe coherent.

Crimson furies or crimson servants are an excellent choice.
One of the strengh of the tabletop game confrontationw as to give armies many female units.
I think Dogs of War should keep this element, and Crimson furies or crimson servants are a good opportunity for that.
