about Hard Boiled

PostSat Feb 08, 2014 8:35 am

card rule says "-3 DAM (minimum of 1"

but
in a Knight Fight they deal 5 damage to each other
Accurate bowman deals him 6 damage... Accurate bowman on Aim 7

so with STR+9-TOU formula i would say that current Hard Boiled works as -3 DAM with minimum of 6?
But In Knight Vs Knight Fight it looks even werider... 12-14+9=7 ... and 7-3 = 4... so how they deal 5 to each other? and if Hard Boiled formula works this time to minimum of 5 or what ? :P

I have noticed the same thing, but I think it happens to a broad number of units. 1 theory I had was that in some cases the formula is not dmg + 9, but dmg + 10. I have noticed this both on units with and without toughness so I ruled that out. Not a huge matter in any case, but a curiosity I'd like some light on for sure. :)

I'm almost shure that this is about Hard Boiled

another example

Accurate Bowman Vs Knight also 6dmg
Accurate Bowman Vs Stuned Knight (TOU-1) also 6dmg ;)

I have some anomalies of my own:

Skull (14) (stunned) vs Sparkling (5) = 19 dmg 14 + 10 - 5 = 19
Skull (15) vs Sparkling (5) = 20 dmg 15 + 10 - 5 = 20
Skull (15) vs Sparkling (stunned) (4) = 21 dmg 15 + 10 - 4 = 21
Skull (15 +3 with scourge) vs Sparkling (frightened) (5) = 23 dmg 15 + 3 + 10 - 5 = 23

Skull vs Sparkling seems to always use base 10.

Same with Magiciain of Alahan:

Skull (15) vs Magician of Alahan (6) = 19 dmg

Everything else that I have noticed uses base 9.

I haven't done many tests with hard boiled yet but I'll take your word for it :P

It's because the damage formula is much more complex that that.

So, the "STR+9-TOU" formula is wrong, but you can still use it as a general rule of thumb if you think the results are close enough for your predictions; however, you shouldn't expect it to work 100% of the time.

Can we know the full formula ?
it would be useful to knew the rules game that we play ;P

especialy when we want to discuss its rules/skills/stats etc.

True, the game is quite simple right now, if you share the full math behind calculations the comunity could help very much in balancing the game.
Also I noticed that the formulas in the tutorial are just a "guide" but it does not always work the way you predict... in particular what interest me the most is: are there minimum caps for stats? What stats? How big are?
